Lifting a Leader: Scholarships Shape UC Experience for Finance Student

Zac MooreZac Moore has big dreams: to own a real estate business or become University of Cincinnati’s next chief investment officer (watch out Karl Scheer). Thanks to scholarship support, the third-year finance student is on the right path.

Moore serves as treasurer of his social fraternity, co-chairman of UC’s Student Government Strategic Planning Committee and a member of the Student Alumni Council. He says the scholarships he received at UC helped make his student leadership involvement possible.

“If it weren’t for the scholarship support, I would not have been able to achieve these leadership roles on campus, because I would have had to work full time. The scholarships had a very strong impact on my experience at UC,” Moore says.

Moore received both a Cincinnatus Presidential Scholarship and a Marvin P. Kolodzik Business Scholarship, which is named after UC alumnus and businessman Marvin P. Kolodzik. In 2008, Kolodzik, a former executive with Emerson Electric Co., established the scholarship to help highly qualified business students fund their college education.

Zac Moore“I just want to say thank you,” Moore says to those who made his scholarships possible. “You are directly helping me take advantage of everything the university has to offer, and it’s a win-win situation. Ultimately, the money translates into experiences, it translates into future leaders, local leaders and business leaders.”

Moore’s future looks bright. He already has held co-op positions with the Ohio House of Representatives, Bank of America Merrill Lynch and Phillips Edison & Company. One day, he hopes to be able to give back to give other UC students the same opportunities he enjoyed.
